CARL POELLATH almost 230 years experience

Established in 1778 during the reign of Joseph II, German Emperor of Holy Roman Empire, Carl Poellath started the production of high quality medals, uniform insignias, church souvenirs, badges etc. From the very beginning the company was located in Schrobenhausen, which is in the heartland of Bavaria, not far from the Bavarian capital Munich. In 1825 King Maximilian I. Joseph of Bavaria and his wife Karoline presented two bronze-alabaster-medallions as “awards of honour” to the company.

A close relationship with the Catholic Church in late 19th century saw Carl Poellath become the main supplier of church insignias. With the worldwide expansion of the church, Carl Poellath quickly became an early “Global Player’’. The industrial revolution together with changes in the German military structures resulted in the opening of new markets for the company. Products now included uniform insignia, prestigious medals & medallions as awards for honours, rank markings etc.

At the end of the 19th century Carl Poellath extended his operations into the arts and received several awards at the world exhibition in Brussels 1873 for outstanding medal designs.

Our local town museum in Schrobenhausen displays a collection of masterpieces of our products and will provide you with further information about our history.

We keep a close relationship with our customers and it is of no surprise that some partnerships have lasted centuries.
